Big Thank You To Yahoo & Bing

thank you white chocolate feast for kids may 04 2010113 300x195 Big Thank You To Yahoo & BingWebsite success seems to revolve around Google now days, well I guess nothing has really changed there then.

In a YouTube video I posted last week I mentioned how the Penguin update banished two of my money sites to the SERPs abyss.

“I’m still not happy about it”

BUT I have accepted the fact that they may never return to page one no matter what clever scheme I hatch or new WSO (Warrior special offer) I read.

Anyway I realised I was still making sales and getting adsence clicks from the two sites that got banished by Google.

I had to look a little deeper.

O yes sales were still coming though but from where?

To my surprise they were coming from Yahoo and Bing.

Not as much as I was getting from Google but hey money is money no matter how much you get.

Yahoo And Bing A Webmasters Best Friend

I know that yahoo and Bing don’t get as much traffic as Google but don’t write them off just yet.

When I check out where my two beloved sites’s ranked in yahoo and Bing they were still sitting pretty on page one. The top of page one I might add.

Sort of reminded me of the old Google days before they started to get crazy.

You May Need To Start Again

This is not what webmaster or site owners want to hear but if your sites has gone from Google and your business strategy relies heavenly on Google traffic then you have two choices.

  1. Find another traffic sources
  2. Start your website again

For this website (Kezanari.com) it does not rely on traffic from Google, I get it using other strategies to be revealed on a different post in the near future.

My other sites that got devalued in Google I will have to rebuild them with no SEO what so ever because I don’t know what Google are looking for now days. Nor does anyone else for that fact.

Why Start Over?

The problem is that there is no defiant diagnosis for the site’s that Google banished.

Were the sites

  • Penalised? Don’t know
  • Sand boxed? Don’t know
  • Google Dance? Don’t Know
  • Too much SEO? Don’t Know

So the plan is to leave my old money sites unchanged for Yahoo and Bing and then recreate them for Google. It’s like turning over a new leaf.

To tell you the truth it could be that the sites were over SEO’ed well I was a self proclaimed “SEO Jedi” Lol

Even though I did un SEO the site’s somewhat, they still have not bounced back and it has been at least 10 weeks.

Thanks Yahoo & Bing

So back to the title of this post “Big Thank You to Yahoo & Bing”

Thank you for not being like Google and making people lose their jobs over night.

Thank you for valuing my websites for their content.

Thank you for not penalising my sites for no apparent reason and then replacing them with sites that have nothing to do with the targeted keyword.

Thank you for not being a Jekyll and Hyde search engine

Thank you for not destroying SEO

There is more but I think you get the idea.

generally we ignore yahoo and bing when we talk about traffic and SEO but your post highlights how important both the search engines can be. There importance increases all the more by the erratic behavior and penalization that google has done to the good sites as well. I know a couple of people who followed all the rules in the SEO book and still their website vanished after the penguin…thanks for sharing this, Robert.

Since the biggest percentage of users utilized Google, it would be great if searchers change their perception on browser choice.

    Hi Robert,

It’s been a very long time since I posted as I’ve been working on several different projects so hope all is well.

I totally agree, although my sites have not been hurt too badly by penguin/panda I’ve noticed increased traffic from Yahoo/Bing and on top of that they sent me a free £125 Ad center voucher to use on my ecommerce store. That’s more than what Google have ever offered me free for PPC!

Yes, it’s hard to keep track on what is Google up too. Alternative traffic sources had become a necessity. It’s funny, but the same thing happened to me. One of my sites in relationship niche got slapped, but I still make some money with traffic from Bing.

Bing and Yahoo are always the forgotten SE’s. But let me say, if you pick a decent niche, one that may caters more to an older generation and/or non-technically inclined especially, they can still provide plenty of traffic!
