I have seen it so many times where someone is bragging about how great their new e book, product or how their new website is the best ever. As I always say to the person, that’s great but I have a question and it is this HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET TRAFFIC TO THIS? and as usual I get the answer I never thought about that or what’s traffic? Well let me say something from the start you can have the best product or website in the world but if you cannot get traffic to your website or product you are wasting your time. One of the best examples of a website with now traffic is like having a advertisement poster up on the moon, no one will find you or know who you are, Oh and no one cares.

Too many people spend most of their time on the product and little or no time on how they will get traffic to the product. In this game anyone can tell you, no traffic no sales and making sales is the most important thing for creating the product in the first place.

There are many strategy to get traffic to your site or product. I think that they are growing every day. You may have heard of the main one’s already like; Forum posting, seo, ppc, ppv, article marketing, youtube, facebook, twitter, digg blogging and all the other social 2.0 platforms, the list goes on and on.

The best strategy to have when you want to get traffic to your website is first to become part of the community of what your chosen niche is. So if your niche is animals then you need to join forums or facebook groups of where those types of people are. Remember there are two types of traffic, targeted and junk. You can get junk traffic from places like twitter but on the other hand if you only follow people that are interested in your niche then it would be targeted traffic.

If you are just starting out my advise would be not to buy traffic until you understand about keywords. The first thing you want to do is join the largest forums centred around your niche and then move onto social networks.

One myth that holds back many a business person is the idea that he
or she (or his or her company) produces one product, which we’ll
call ‘Product X’.

Well, of course, many companies do just that. They go on, year
after year, producing this or that product or service, perhaps
adding ‘Product Y’ to their range in due course.

But sometimes the demand for products X and Y dries up. Rather
like life on Earth, there are a million times as many extinct
products, or species as there are extant, surviving ones.

Companies with foresight might see the end coming, and evolve and
adapt to create new products and services for the new environment.
Many companies are more like dinosaurs, though, and carry on in the
old way, with obsolete products, because they served them well in
the past. Those products were once brilliant ideas, but not now…

Meanwhile, you may have a passion, a dream and boundless ambition,
and you might have a new product that you know the world truly
needs. You may, but you’ll be hard-pushed to sell that product if
it’s also something no one actually wants. Instead of being a
dinosaur, your company might be an evolutionary dead end…

You can spend months or years and unbelievable amounts of money
‘educating the market’ to want what you feel they need. Just as
you can pour endless amounts of money down the drain trying to
promote something that people used to want but no longer do.
Either way, you’re in danger of extinction.

Listen to the market, ask your customers their opinion and watch
for signs of what people actually want, not what they need or what
you feel they should have.

Then you will have a better chance of owning a brilliant business,
not just a brilliant idea.

Roy and Jacqui

Cinnamon Edge

PS. One product we’ve created in response to demand is The Complete
Marketing Manual. It wasn’t in our plans just yet, but when we saw
the demand, we produced it.
